Prince Alhaji Matthew Opaluwa has emerged as the new Attah Igala of the Igala people of Kogi State North Central Nigeria,
The new crown emerged one year after the demise of his predesessor, Michael Ameh Oboni ll; putting an end to the tussle for the throne among the ruling dynasty.

Kogi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ozigi Salami, who made the announcement in Lokoja on Monday, also announced the grading and upgrading of seventy-three other traditional stools approved by the governor, Yahaya Bello.
The final choice of Opaluwa as Attah of Igala followed a rigorous and due diligence process before Monday’s announcement by the Kogi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Ozigi Salami.
Holders of the traditional stools of Otalu of Atabaka in Okpo, Olamaboro, Ohi of Okenwe in Okene and Elejukwu of Ojuku were amongst the list of traditional rulers graded and upgraded to third, second- and first-class stools across the three senatorial districts.
The new Attah Alhaji Matthew Opaluwa was born in 1975 to the royal family of late Opaluwa Oguche Akpa of the Aju-Amacho ruling dynasty of Igala Kingdom.
He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Kastina State until his appointment on Monday.
