The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has reappointed its Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, for another four years term, with effect from December 7, 2022, in accordance with Section 8 of the Electoral Act, 2022.
This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen by the National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Rose Oriaran-Anthony is the second female Secretary of the Commission and the first to have her tenure renewed.

Meanwhile, the Commission’s regular meeting held on Thursday, November 24, 2022, also approved the publication and release of the guidelines for the Conduct of Political Rallies, Processions and Campaigns as well as that of Finances and Election Expenses of political parties, Candidates and Aspirants.
The Commission reminded all political parties of their obligation to submit the required reports to the Commission in accordance with the provisions of Section 90(4) of the Electoral Act 2022 and the applicable sanctions for failure to comply as provided in Section 89(4) of the Electoral Act.
The Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, ASSPT, had filed a suit, compelling INEC to among other things, issue a Regulatory Framework, Guidelines and Dates for the political Parties and Candidates on how to submit comprehensive records of all monies and contributions from inside and outside Nigeria.
