The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Ebonyi State, South East Nigeria says 12 out of the 18 registered Political Parties in the country will be participating in the 2023 Governorship election in the State.
This is just as 245 candidates from 16 political parties will slug it out for the available 23 State House of Assembly seats.
The Ebonyi State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Chukwuemeka Chukwu gave the breakdown at a Media briefing in Abakaliki, Friday.
INEC is advising candidates who may have discrepancies in their credentials as published, to bring up such complaints for corrections before the final publication in August.
On the extended deadline for the Continuous Voter Registration exercise, Chukwu notes that the Commission in Ebonyi State is working from 9am to 5pm, Mondays to Sundays in order to address the upsurge in voter registration.
He is urging qualified citizens to take the opportunity of the closing windows to register and exercise their civil rights.
INEC says the total number of registered voters in Ebonyi State stands at 336,412 as at 18th July 2022.
