Zamfara state is stepping up efforts to prevent infant and child mortality with a campaign for comprehensive vaccination of babies and children under five.
Wife of the Governor Huriyya, Lawal, at an advocacy programme on routine immunization and primary health care, called on mothers across the state to ensure their children receive all recommended vaccinations, assuring that the vaccines are safe and effective.
Despite years of campaign for immunization of new borns, reports indicate a number of zero-dose children in parts of Zamfara state
This is why Hurraiya Lawal, wife of the Zamfara state governor is leading the campaign for parents to get their children vaccinated
She emphasized that every immunized child is a child protected from life-threatening illnesses such as measles, polio, diphtheria, and tetanus.
The Governor’s wife highlighted the progress Zamfara State has made in improving immunization coverage but warned against complacency; urging mothers to ensure their children receive all required vaccines.
Wives of local government chairman were also challenged to take the awareness campaign deep into communities, stressing the need for every mother to prioritise child immunisation and attend antenatal care.
