Two children of age five and eight who were allegedly being tortured by their father has been rescued.

It is alleged that their father Sunday Rene subjected them to inhumane treatment.

The boys were rescued following the intervention of neighbours and a local vigilante group who monitored the situation and arrested the father.

The father of the children Sunday Rene and his family who live at Calvary Road Aso in Mararaba a suburbs of Abuja, moved there just a few months ago.

Members of the community began to notice the cruel treatment of the man towards his two children Samuel Rene and Peace Rene whenever he returned from work.

Worried by the dehumanizing torture on the children, one of their neighbour took the complaint to the local vigilante group to caution the man.

Despite the warning from the neighbours and the vigilante group, the treatment continued forcing the community members to take laws into their hands.

When contacted on phone, the police public Relations officer, Nasarawa state police command Nansel Ramhan who confirmed the incident said the maltreated children have been given to their grandmother for custody.

The Nasarawa state police command said the man has been remanded in police custody and will be charged to court after the investigation.
