The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the kidnap of the father of Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Council Area, Gbalipre Turner, few weeks after Mother of the State’s Secretary of Government, Bettina Benson regained freedom from her abductors.
The Septuagenarian was abducted on Sunday at his Samphino-Yenagoa residence in the Bayelsa State capital, an incident which has attracted widespread condemnations and calls for his release.

The father of Ogbia Local Government Council Area Chairman, Gbalipre Turner on whom a previous attempt by hoodlums to abduct him had failed, was not lucky a second time.
The retired civil servant was whisked away from his Residence in the Bayelsa State Capital on Sunday at about 10pm by gun wielding assailants who shot sporadically to thwart any rescue bid.
Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Asinim Buswat said inroads have already been made in the investigations, even as vigorous efforts are been made to ensure a speedy rescue.
The incident is coming barely 48 hours after the kidnap of another victim, a trader in building materials at his business place in the Okurukutu area of the metropolis.
