Benue

The urgent need for President Muhammadu Buhari to eschew provincialism to preserve, protect as well as enhance the unity of the country and arrest the drift to a failed State has been highlighted.

A Benue socio cultural group known as the Minda Strategic contact group made the call in Makurdi Benue State’s capital following renewed spate of killings not limited to Benue alone.

The group expressed concern that the Federal Government would allow the menace of herdsmen atrocities destroy the unity of the country, stressing that negative reactions by the presidency to genuine calls by patriotic Nigerians for urgent action is a bad omen.

It noted that indulging in diatribe with sub-national governments “laden with hidden agenda” as precondition for peace in Benue or other states amounts to taking sides with the aggressors against other Nigerians.
