Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy has postponed the 2025 edition of the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST) earlier scheduled to begin on November 21, 2025, in Enugu State, South-East Nigeria.
The decision, according to the ministry, was made in response to recent insecurity incidents and loss of lives in different parts of the country, promising to consult with state governments, cultural institutions, and security agencies to determine a new date for the festival towards ensuring it takes place in a fitting atmosphere.
The ministry says the postponement reflects Nigeria’s values of empathy, national unity, and collective sensitivity, demonstrating a responsible approach to national events as it looks forward to showcasing Nigeria’s cultural diversity and promoting unity, when the festival resumes.
The festival, which was expected to feature participation from over 28 states, is a significant event that promotes nation-building, social cohesion, and cultural diplomacy, showcasing Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity and unity
