The Federal Government says attempt by Zamfara State Government to politicise insecurity in the state should be ignored by Nigerians especially with the recent abduction and release of of students of the Federal University Gusau.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris in a statement on Monday in Abuja said rather than appreciate the efforts of the Federal Government and security agencies for the prompt release of the students, Governor Dauda Lawal choose to play cheap politics with such a sensitive matter.

The Minister notes that government institutions are empowered by law to spring to action without prompting to ensure the safe release of citizens illegally taken hostage like the case of the students in Zamfara State and that no official of government is negotiating with any bandit or group of bandits.

The statement further assured Nigerians that the government is working to turn around the current insecurity in forms of kidnapping, banditry and all forms of criminality to a safer enviroment for all in the country.

The Minister also warned that all forms of political or personal differences should be set aside when serious issues of national security are at stake.
