Governors of the five Southeast states in Nigeria say they will continue to collaborate with relevant authorities to address security challenges facing the region.

The governors also assured the people of the region that adequate security measures have been put in place for those traveling home this festive season.

These assurances were announced by the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti during his monthly media chat in Umuahia where he also presented operational vehicles to security agencies in the state.

The governor urged southeasterners to have faith in their various state governments as they are making efforts to ensure security and safety of people and their property, particularly during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Governor Alex Otti presented 20 brand new operational vehicles to security agencies in the state to improve their operational capacities.

The commander, 14 brigade of Nigerian army, Ohafia, Brigadier General Diya, along with other heads of security agencies in the state, thanked the governor for the gesture and assured that adequate security would be provided and appealed to the people to cooperate with law enforcement agencies.

Most people in the region have been expressing concerns over the increasing spate of kidnappings and other violent crimes in the region.

They are also bothered about the increasing number of roadblocks mounted by men of the Nigerian army and other security agencies.
