The Federal Government has been called upon to set aside a day of National Prayer, for God’s intervention, to bring back peace and stability to the country.

Some participants who made the call at the just concluded, Second Special Prayer Series, termed Yaumush Shukur, meaning, ‘Thanksgiving Day,’ set aside by the Katsina State Government every August 1, believe that returning to God is the only option left for Nigerians.

They are of the opinion that, the Federal Government should borrow a leaf from Katsina and declare a day of National Prayer, saying the government has failed, in terms of securing the lives and property of Nigerians.

Governor Aminu Masari who was the host of the prayer, said the date August 1 was selected, as it coincided with the year Katsina got its independence from Zaria province, 88 years ago.

Masari added that since then till now, the state has witnessed tremendous changes, even as it is currently stabilizing, in terms of security and development.

He assured that being the last annual August 1 Special Prayer Session as the Governor of the state, adequate arrangements have been put in place, to sustain its commemoration, by signing an Executive Order.

A similar prayer session was observed simultaneously across the 34 Local Government Areas, along with the one organised in the state capital, as the state government had earlier declared the day, a work-free day.
