The planned protest by some northern youths in Kano against the insecurity in Northern Nigeria has suffered setbacks, as the venue for the convergence of the protest has been sealed up.
Though the protesters alleged that the venue was sealed off by security operatives, owners of the venue said the protesters did not obtain permission to use the place.
As early as 7 am, heavy security operatives could be sighted around the Press Centre of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Kano State chapter, the venue of the planned protest.
Though the premises were sealed off, that did not deter the protesters.

The convener of the Secure North Protest, Abba Hikima, said they don’t have to get any approval from the police to have a peaceful protest.
He said the protest is all about calling the attention of the Federal Government to the rising insecurity in the Northern parts of the country.
Members of Coalition of Northern Groups, who joined in the protest, wondered when it has become an offence to organise a peaceful protest.
For now, security operatives are still well stationed at strategic places in the state, to prevent the breakdown of law and order.
