Schools in Kebbi state, North-West Nigeria have resumed in compliance with the directive of the government. However, schools in remote rural areas are yet to reopen according to updates received by AIT.live.
The schools in rural areas would remain closed until security clearance is issued to reopen them.
Security agencies in collaboration with the Kebbi State Government, held a meeting with educational stakeholders on how to collaborate with the Schools Protection Squad as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen school safety across the state.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner for Education, Halima Bande and her team where teachers made some demands in respect of their welfare.
Bande said government was working towards resolving outstanding issues including seeking the support of traditional institutions in promoting peace, unity, security, and educational development within the state.
The closure of schools in Kebbi state happened prematurely following November’s terrorists attack and abduction of young female students of the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga.
