Following the increasing rate of attacks by hoodlums and social miscreants within the metropolis, the Niger State Government has directed security operatives to shoot at any of them seen with dangerous weapons on the streets.
The resolution was reached at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Palace of the Emir of Minna, Umar Bahago.
The resolution is not unconnected wiith the several reports made by residents of how hoodlums have been attacking people in Minna, the state capital, for the past few days, including those going for their prayers.
The Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government Area, Aminu Ladan, who conveyed the state government’s decision, said the order was to allow innocent people to go about their normal businesses without fear.
Ladan said the state government would not allow lawless children to deny people freedom of movement and the right to peaceful gatherings.
He further added that security operatives have launched house-to-house searches to get those involved arrested and prosecuted.
