Some scholars have said that for Nigeria to overcome the prevailing insecurity, the government needs to tackle unemployment and poverty, which they believe are some of the major factors, responsible for the current security challenges bedeviling the country.
They made this submission in Gusau, at the opening ceremony of an international conference organized by the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Federal University, Gusau.
The conference had as its theme; Covid-19 Pandemic, Security and Sustainable Development.
This international conference on Covid-19 Pandemic, Security and Sustainable Development is to provide an opportunity for scholars around the world to proffer workable solutions to the myriad of global health, security, and economic crises, facing Nigeria and the entire world.

The Vice-chancellor of the Federal University, Gusau, Professor Abubakar Gusau, blames illiteracy and lack of proper education as some of the causes of insecurity in Nigeria.
It is against this backdrop that he asked participants to advance viable recommendations that would help the nation address the prevailing insecurity and other challenges confronting it.
Professor Ayo Dumonye of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, stressed the need for good governance, which will tackle youth unemployment and poverty, which in his view, if done, insecurity would be history in Nigeria.
The Dean, Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Federal University, Gusau, Dr Bashir Faruk, described the Covid-19 pandemic and insecurity as twin evil that has devastating impact on human and economic development, which must be addressed by the conference.
Participants were drawn from within and outside the shores of Nigeria, and they are expected to come up with a communique, that would assist policymakers, to fashion out lasting solutions, to the prevaling challenges in Nigeria.
