The Taraba State Government has imposed a total ban on the use of motorcycles and a 6-8pm curfew on tricycles in the State capital Jalingo.
This is part of the strategies deployed by the State Government to check the spike in criminal activities in the State capital.
The new order is to be enforced by a constituted Taskforce on the total ban of the use of motorcycles and control of tricycles (popularly known as Keke Napep), and was setup by the State Government.
A press statement on the development further says defaulters will be arrested and tried by a mobile court, and the vehicles confiscated.
Since the ban on the use of motorcycle in Jalingo in 2012, the restriction has not been lifted, but the State has in the past few months witnessed an increase in the illegal use of motorcycles in the State capital, accompanied with a rise in criminal activities.
