Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has said Nigerians should blame themselves for the insecurity and economic hardship in the country after failing to vote out President Muhammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2019 when the opportunity presented itself.

Speaking shortly after he was conferred with the Rotary Club Good Governance Award for 2019/2020, Governor Wike said violence, mass killings and kidnapping have become the order of the day in the country.

Wike said Nigeria is going through very difficult times occasioned by worsening security challenges that have almost brought the country to its knees under the watch of Buhari.

He said since the Civil War, Nigeria has not experienced the level of violence, killings and wanton destruction unleashed daily by Boko Haram insurgents, murderous herdsmen, bandits and kidnappers on Nigerian citizens.

Governor Wike noted that the citizens cannot completely absolved themselves of any blame for failing to vote out Buhari and his APC in 2019.

He accused the APC led Federal Government and some of its Governors of fueling the insecurity in the country; calling on Nigerians never to repeat the errors of 2019.

Earlier, Vice President of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, Obiageli Ejezie said they were at Government House in Port Harcourt to commend and honour Governor Nyesom Wike for the many laudable and sustainable developmental projects embarked upon in Rivers State.
