Internal Security: GOC 6 Division harps on collaboration amongst security agencies

The General Officer Commanding six division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Johnson Irefin, has called on security agencies in Nigeria to strengthen ties and increase collaboration among themselves in order to effectively deal with the nation’s security challenges.

Major General Irefin made the call during a joint security workshop entitled “Interagency approach in internal security operations for exercise crocodile smile Vi” which held in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.

The workshop which brought together heads of security agencies and paramilitary agencies afforded participants an opportunity to brainstorm and seek ways of improving synergy towards achieving a violent and crime free rivers state.

Major General Irefin stressed that there is a need for security agencies to deepen cooperation to effectively confront emerging security threats, following the recent attacks on security operatives by hoodlums during the #EndSARS protests.

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan, expressed confidence that the workshop will further boost the fight against crime and criminality across the state.

The inter-agency security workshop among other things highlighted the dependence of security agencies on each other against the dangers of a single service approach in combating internal security threats.
