International Friendly: Don’t Judge Super Eagles With Guinea Defeat –Unanuel

Former Kwara United coach, Samson Unuanel has urged Nigerians not to judge the Super Eagles based on the loss to Guinea in a warm up game ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Recall that Guinea defeated Nigeria 2-0 on Monday through goals from Aguibou Camara in the 14th minute and Facinet Conté in the 64th minute.

Monday’s defeat is coming hours after the Super Eagles wallopped a Dubai-based club 12-0 in another friendly tie.

However, in a chat with sports Journalists, Unuanel stated that friendly match is only meant to help the team fine tune their strategy without putting so much importance on the result.

“You can’t judge a team or any coach with the result of a friendly game. Friendly game is friendly, it is not a game you use all your arsenal.

“It is not a game you do everything that you must win. It is a game to correct some certain things and to put things aright.

“So the result against Guinea is not all that is important as far I am concern. The most important thing is the tournament proper where you can judge the team.”

Nigeria, winners of AFCON tournament in 2013, are in Group A alongside the host nation; Cote D’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea.

They will begin their quest for a fourth continental title on Sunday, January 14th against Equatorial Guinea.
