The Federal Government says by December 2023 Nigerians will no longer have to visit Immigration offices for data Capturing while processing their international passport as they will be able to upload their passport and supporting documents online.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo who said this during a media Briefing with focus on Passport Processing and Border Management also confirmed the clearance of 204,332 Backlog of international passports following the two-week deadline.
Tunji Ojo further said Nigerians will now get their international passport within two weeks as Immigration service and its partners would upgrade their systems in order to improve their services.
He also advised Nigerians to desist from giving bribe to any Nigerian Immigration officer as it is their right to obtain their international passport.
The Nigerian Immigration service will also introduce passport front offices where people can go and process their passport close to where they reside as solution providers have been given three months to activate this or their contract will be revoked.
