The United Nations International Children’s Fund, UNICEF, has made a fresh call for gender equality and the promotion of women’s well-being, insisting that it is paramount for building prosperous economies and fostering a healthy world.
This was the message of Tushar Rane, the Chief of UNICEF Bauchi Field Office, Tushar Tane said this in Gombe during a media dialogue ahead of the 2024 International Women’s Day.
Data made available during the presentation showed that Bauchi ranked the highest in child mortality rate, when compared with Plateau, Gombe, and Taraba states.

The media dialogue brought together journalists from Bauchi, Gombe, Plateau, and Taraba states and the UNICEF Field Office, to critically examine issues affecting women’s health, including the high rate of mortality, and the need to invest in women’s futures.
