Barely 24 hours after the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board said the use of email is no longer required for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, and Direct Entry, DE registration’s processes, the board announced the hacking of the profiles of some of its staff.
JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, who made this known at a briefing in Abuja also paraded before newsmen at least 10 scammers who admitted hacking profiles of some JAMB ad hoc staff, defrauding them of over ten million naira.
Professor Oloyede said email will only be requested at the successful completion of the registration exercise by candidates to access information on the examination.
He said the printing of examination slip Notification or Result notification slip or ticketing can be done anywhere using the candidates’ JAMB registration number only.

He noted that only ATM cards are now allowed for any transaction as it has phased out the use of cash in the Computer-Based Test centres owned by JAMB.
The Registrar, however, said candidates who are keen on using cash can visit privately owned centres for their registration.
Professor Oloyede also revealed over a dozen fraudsters who have gained access to an intranet site of JAMB, altering the profiles of some ad hoc staff and diverting over N10 million meant for their allowances.
He said the board uncovered the fraud after careful investigations which led to the arrest of 5he mastermind, one Sahabi Zubairu from Takum in Taraba State.
Oloyede noted that the affected ad hoc staff have since been reimbursed, assuring that the stolen money will be recovered, while handing over the perpetrators to the EFCC, for further investigation and prosecution.
