The lead negotiator for the victims of the Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack, Tukur Mamu, has been arrested by the Egyptian Police.

Mamu was arrested in Egypt, alongside his family member and was detained by Interpol at the Cairo International Airport, while awaiting a connecting flight to Saudi Arabia for the lesser Hajj.

Efforts by AIT to reach Mamu through phone calls and text messages were not successful.

An anonymous source said that Mamu has been flown back to Nigeria by Interpol after he was interrogated and nothing incriminating was found against him.

The source further said that Mamu may be interrogated by officials of the Nigerian secret police, the Department of State Security, (DSS).

Meanwhile, a news conference concerning the arrest by Mamu’s Assistant was called off over possible fear that the security operatives would invade the venue.

Mamu has been the lead negotiator between the terrorists and the victims of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack that took place on March 28.

He has so far negotiated for the release of over 30 victims but had to withdraw following what he described as threats to his life.
