As the world commemorates International Women’s Day, the Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Edet Otu, has celebrated the resilience, enterprise, and contributions of women to the social and economic development of the state.
In a message issued by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, the governor described women as critical drivers of progress and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding economic opportunities that enable them to thrive.
Governor Otu noted that across farms, markets, schools, and public institutions, women continue to demonstrate remarkable courage, creativity, and determination in shaping the state’s development.

He said his administration has deliberately prioritised policies and programmes aimed at strengthening women’s participation in agriculture, entrepreneurship, education, technology, and other emerging sectors of the economy.
The governor explained that empowering women remains a strategic pathway to sustainable development, noting that when women succeed, families are strengthened, communities grow, and the economy expands.
Governor Otu, therefore, saluted the achievements of women across the state and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies that recognises their contributions, strengthenes their voices, and expand opportunities for their economic advancement.
