The planned sit-at-home ordered by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, scheduled to commence Monday, 9th of August, 2021 has been put on hold due to the ongoing National Examination Council, NECO, for students of senior secondary schools.

The latest directive is contained in a statement issued Sunday evening by the IPOB leader’s younger brother, Kanunta Kanu.

Kanu explained that IPOB arrived at the decision, after listening to pleas from well-meaning individuals and groups that the order is suspended to allow students in the southeast to participate in the NECO examination.

He stated that a new date for the commencement of the sit-at-home order would be announced later.

However, Kanu’s directive counters the statement issued by IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, earlier on Sunday morning, where he insisted that the sit-at-home order must be observed as planned.

Powerful’s statement reads in part:

” We the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra IPOB led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wish to remind all Biafrans and friends of Biafran that the Monday sit-at-home order is sacrosanct.

The entire Biafra land will be locked down every Monday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm beginning from tomorrow, August 9, 2021until our leader, Nnamdi Kanu who was abducted in Kenya and brought back to Nigeria and locked up in the DSS dungeon in clear violation of international laws is freed.”
