IPOB Sit-at-Home: Residents of Umuahia apprehensive of their security

Umuahia

As the sit-at-home action ordered by the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, enters its fourth week, the residents of Umuahia, the Abia State capital are still apprehensive of their security.

Just like the previous Mondays, banks, some shops, and major markets were closed, while few commercial and private vehicles were seen on the streets and major roads in the state capital.

In the early hours, Police patrol vehicles numbering about seven were seen on the streets and major roads in Umuahia.

Security sources said the police patrol is a move to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

In Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state, the story was the same as many residents ignored the earlier directive from IPOB sources suspending the sit-at-home order, and decided to stay away from the streets.

The civil action ordered by the self-determination agitation group, IPOB four weeks ago, according to their spokesman, Emma Powerful, is to mount pressure on the Nigerian Federal Government to release their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who is currently standing trial.
