Following the directive of President Bola Tinubu to exit all tertiary institutions from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS, agitations have began among University unions on which alternative platform the government has for IPPIS.
The President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, Mohammed Haruna at a media briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, appreciated government’s decision but said, the union remains curious whether government will adopt SSANU and NASU’s U3PS payment platform.
The SSANU President also remained government of its position to down tools should owed four months old salaries are not paid before December 2023 ending.

In a similar development, President of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), Ibeji Nwokoma, in a statement also demanded clarification on which platform government intends to replace IPPIS, warning the authorities not to create disharmony in the university system.
President Tinubu approved the removal of universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education from the IPPIS platform after several complaints that it did not capture the peculiarities of tertiary institutions workers in the country.
