For former England International John Fashanu, football has become a tool for global unification and a way of life of the people.
Fashanu made the observation when the Israeli government presented some sports kits to pupils of a school in Abuja.

The long standing relationship between Nigeria and Israel in the field of football dates back to the 60s when Nigeria first National Football Team coach after independence was an Israeli Jerry Bet. The Israeli see this as signs of better days ahead.
