The Chief Medical Director of Imo State University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Chukwuma Duru has been sacked.
Governor Hope Uzodinma approved the sack following the adoption of a white paper to that effect.
Imo State Government had earlier constituted a Visitation Panel to probe the affairs of the the Teaching Hospital.
Briefing newsmen, after the state executive council meeting at the Government House, Owerri, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, said Dr. Duru was indicted.
Declan Emelumba said the council was disturbed over the wage bill of the Institution which jumped from 147 Million to 236 Million within a space of one month.
Emelumba disclosed that the Hospital management took advantage of the arrival of Uzodimma’s new administration to fraudulently pay fictitious wages.
Emelumba also spoke on illegal structures around Government House permanent site, Owerri, and called for their demolitions.
The council however resolved that some major road constructions will commence soon before the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
