IWD: Ebonyi Government to Empower 130 Indigent Women

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, says his administration has lived up to the 35 percent affirmative of women inclusiveness in politics, having appointed women in key positions in his administration.

Governor Nwifuru was speaking at an event to mark the 2024 International Women’s Day in Abakaliki

He challenged women to play their primary roles of effective home keeping and taking care of their children against pursuit of ephemeral gains.

The Ebonyi State Governor, while commending the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her various social programs in empowering women, disclosed that 130 indigent women interested in businesses from across the 13 Local Government Areas of the State will be empowered with One million Naira each, to complement the Farmers Empowerment Social program of the wife of the Nigerian President.

The wife of the Governor, Uzoamaka Nwifuru, says the 2024 Women’s Day celebration should be used to refresh the minds of the society on the imbalance on the social status of women, and to add values to them.

She used the occasion to flag off the farmers empowerment program of the wife of the President with the empowerment of 20 farmers with 500 hundred thousand Naira each.

Some of the women and beneficiaries of the farmers empowerment program spoke on what the Day means to them and how the empowerment program will help them.
