Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi is on the brink of history, as he is set to become the most capped Nigerian player in Premier League history with 299 appearances if he features for Fulham against his boyhood club, Arsenal, at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
Iwobi made his Premier League debut under legendary manager Arsène Wenger on October 27, 2015, in Arsenal’s 3–0 victory over Swansea City.
Since then, he has steadily built an impressive career across three clubs, amassing 298 league appearances to date.
In Fulham’s recent 3–1 defeat to Bournemouth, Iwobi equalled the record set by former Super Eagles striker and Newcastle United legend Shola Ameobi, who made 298 appearances during his time in England’s top flight.

Across his career, Iwobi has featured 149 times for Arsenal, 140 for Everton, and 85 for Fulham, enjoying his most productive spell yet under Marco Silva at Craven Cottage.
Statistically, the Nigerian international has contributed 11 goals and 17 assists for Arsenal, 6 goals and 13 assists for Everton, and 15 goals and 10 assists for Fulham.
Should he play against the Gunners this weekend, he will be on course to reach the 300-game milestone in Fulham’s subsequent fixture against Newcastle United.
Iwobi’s standout campaign came in the 2024/25 season, when he thrived under Silva’s management, scoring nine goals and providing six assists while starting all 38 league games.
Now 29, Iwobi has transformed from a bright Arsenal academy prospect into one of the Premier League’s most consistent and dynamic midfielders, a testament to his growth, versatility, and longevity at the top level.
