Immediate past Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to grant state pardon to his predecessor, Joshua Dariye.
Jang, who took over from Dariye as Governor in 2007, but the two remained political rivals till Dariye’s conviction made the call on Sunday while speaking at the finals of the Plateau North Peace and Unity Football Tournament at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium in Jos, the state capital.
According to Jang “it is time for us as Plateau people to speak with one voice, so am pleading with Mr. President, Muhammadu Buhari to grant our son, Senator Joshua Dariye pardon so that he can come back and join us”.
He equally appealed for state pardon for former Taraba State Governor, Jolly Nyame, who was also convicted on corruption charges.
Jang said, “These two are dear to us in Plateau and Nigeria and it is our earnest prayer that the President considers our request, as we continue to pray for him too, to succeed in his tenure.”
