JOHESU Members Demand Resignation Of Health Minister Over Non-implementation Of Consolidated Salary Structure

Nigeria’s minister of health and social welfare, Mohammed Ali Pate has been advised to resign if he fails to resolve industrial issues which has forced the joint health sector unions, JOHESU into strike for more than 34 days.

The call was made by the executives of JOHESU who led thousands of members to picket the headquatres of federal ministry of health and social welfare, federal secretariat complex in Abuja, demanding immediate implementation of the long-standing Consolidated health salary structure, CONHESS.

From the Ayuba Wabba House, medical and health workers union headquatres secretariat in Abuja, members of the joint health sector unions marched through the streets chanting solidarity songs and carrying placards with several inscription demanding the upward review and immediate payment of the Consolidated health salary structure, CONHESS, which has been long-standing for 12 years.

At the federal ministry of health and social social welfare the protesters waited for hours with no government official ready to address them.

Apart from federal health institutions which have been shutdown, state health facilities like the federal capital territory have joined the strike.

Departments and units affected by the health workers strike include, medical records, pharmacies, laboratory, oncology, account and morgue among others

Meanwhile, AIT gathered that officials of the federal ministry of health have reached out to JOHESU leadership, assuring them of the government’s desire to resolve all industrial issues.
