Joint Airport Workers at the Ilorin International Airport have embarked on a peaceful protest against the decision of Nigeria’s Federal government to concess four major Nigerian airports.

The workers described the development as another form of imperialism, which will allow the Chinese to re-colonize Nigeria through trade and constitute security threat to the nation.

The leaders of the airport workers, Sunday Ugbeikwu, Alonge Abiodun and Sanni Itopa, maintained that there is a hidden agenda behind the Federal government’s move on the concession of Nigerian airports.

They add that none of the earlier privatized agencies have succeeded in the country, as a result of corruption and non-transparency of policies.

They also noted that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is owing the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) to the tune of N85 billion.

They also added that the Federal government is yet to settle the debt of another 5billion dollars loan collected from the Chinese government.

Recall that the Federal government recently commenced the concession process of four viable international airports in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Kano.
