Joint Security Operation Rescues Kwara Monarch’s Wife, Nab 13 Suspects

A joint team of the Nigeria Police, Army and the local vigilantes have rescued the wife of the late monarch who was murder in his palace by gunmen, and one other in Ekiti local Government Area of Kwara State.

This is contained in a Press release made available to Journalists in the early hours of this Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Command, DSP Ejire-Adeyemi Toun.

It would be recalled that gunmen invaded the palace of Olukoro of Koro Kingdom and gruesomely murdered the Oba Olusegun Aremu-Cole, a retired Army General in his palace on 1st of February 2024 and abducted his wife and one other person.

The statement revealed that in the course of investigation, the Inspector General of Police IGP Kayode Egbetokun, approved the deployment of a Police chopper for aerial surveillance which was said to have assisted to comb the boundary forest between Kwara and Ekiti States.

The operation also led to the arrest of 13 male suspects who are presently in the Police custody undergoing vigorous interrogations, with a view towards aiding the arrest of other suspected members of the gang who are still at large.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya has maintained that the perpetrators of the dastardly act will face the full wrath of the law, while urging the public to remain calm and be security conscious as they go about their daily activities without fear or anxiety.
