A high Court sitting in Jos has ruled that Laven Ubandoma be reinstated as the Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council till 9th October 2022.

The Complainant, Ubandoma had approached the Court following his removal from office by the Plateau State Government ahead of the October 9th council Polls in the State even when he still have one year to complete his 3-year tenure just as other elected Chairmen whose tenure elapsed and elections were held on 9th October, 2021.

In his judgment, the Presiding Judge, Justice Ishaku Kunda, ruled that the tenure of Laven Ubandoma, who was sworn into office in October, 2019 will expire on 9th October, 2022.

Efforts to get the reaction of the respondent Counsel Natok dashwer, who was present in court was unsuccessful, however, Counsel to Ubandoma, Niri Darong expressed satisfaction with the ruling and said the judgement is a declarative order and it starts immediately because the court has not recognized any election conducted in Lantang North on the 9th October 2021.
