Some residents of Jos, the Plateau State capital, are calling on the state government to do the needful to reduce the cases of accidents on the Polo roundabout.

Accidents at the roundabout have consistently claimed lives and destroyed properties worth millions of naira.

An eye witness said, a trailer packed full of bird feed lost control when one of its tyres exploded as it approached the roundabout.

Though no life was lost, one person was however rushed to the emergency unit of the Bingham university hospital.

The residents say, the number of accidents recorded on the same spot on a monthly basis calls for concern and the need for government to take proactive measures to address the situation.

The State traffic officer who refuse to speak on camera said, the accidents could be avoided if drivers stick to the rules and regulations guiding road users.

As at the time of filing in this report, the police and road safety officers were on ground to help direct the huge traffic build up, as a result of the accident.
