The council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Bauchi State branch, has reacted over the threat to the life of its member, an online media proprietor of Wikki Times, Haruna Mohammed, and his family.
A press statement released by the secretary of the council, Garba Gadau, alleged that a letter said to have been written by Makkah Eye Clinic, was dropped in his office by an unidentified person.
According to the statement, this is coming when Makkah Eye Clinic sued the proprietor over an alleged defamatory report carried by Wikki Times.

He said the Nigerian Union of Journalists condemned in strong terms, the threat on the reporter, Haruna Mohammed, saying the constitution has given journalists the right to hold government and individuals accountable, and they will not be deterred from carrying out their role in society.
The union, therefore, urged security operatives to commence investigations into the matter.
