The Bauchi State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists says it will boycott all activities of the Office of the state’s Deputy Governor, Senator Baba Tela.

A statement signed by the Correspondents’ Secretary-General, Samuel Luka, said the decision was made following the Deputy Governor’s order expelling the journalists from his office after an invitation to cover an official event.

In an emergency Congress meeting held at the Chapel’s Secretariat on Monday, the members observed that the action of the Deputy Governor, in the presence of some stakeholders was unpleasant and disparaging.

The Chapel also expressed dismay and said that the action of the Deputy Governor was uncalled for, and capable of jeopardizing the working relationship between the press and the office of the Deputy Governor.
