Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, says the Federal Government is not sincere with its intentions on financial autonomy for the country’s Judiciary.

Governor Wike who bared his mind at the Commissioning of residences for judges of the National Industrial Court says the Federal Government is merely trying to divert attention by pitching the judicial workers against State Governments.

For several weeks now, Judicial workers under the umbrella of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, have been on an indefinite strike to demand the enforcement of constitutional autonomy to the judiciary at the Federal and State levels.

Governor Nyesom Wike says there is more to their action and is alleging that the Federal government may be linked with the strike

He said that his administration is already implementing autonomy for the judiciary.

He also announced that his administration would start implementing the ‘no work, no policy’ if the strike by Judiciary workers continue.

Governor Wike further warned against any deduction from the State’s accounts saying that the State is not in any way bound by the decisions of the Presidential Implementation Committee or any other body.
