A judicial panel of inquiry to investigate the recurrent inter-ethnic crisis in the southern and central parts of Taraba State has been inaugurated.
Governor Darius Ishaku who inaugurated the panel, however cautioned against inciting comments, especially on the social media, which could escalate the crisis.
Governor Darius Ishaku says the committee is tasked with the responsibility to find out the cause of the crisis between the Tiv ethnic group and its neighbours in the central and southern parts of Taraba State.
He decried that despite several peace meetings by the Taraba and Benue State Governments, the conflict has continued to ravage parts of Taraba State, with a negative impact on Agriculture.
He maintained that the sustenance of peace, remains a cardinal point of his administration.
The Governor says, the panel will be provided the needed logistics to succeed.
The panel of inquiry is made up of legal luminaries, with retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Kumai Akas, as its Chairman.
It is expected to sit and present its findings in 3 months.
The judicial panel has therefore appealed to all those planning to testify before it, to do so with the sense of restoring peace to the affected areas.
