As Nigerians mark the 2025 Democracy Day, the Civil Societies Coalition in Osun State have embarked on a protest, with a call for better governance in the country.
The protesters reportedly converged on the popular Baba Onisekere Ayetoro Roundabout, amidst what ait.live Correspondent in Oshogbo described as heavy presence of security operatives
The demonstrators, including Civil Society groups and pro-democracy activists gathered to voice out concerns over worsening economic conditions and rising insecurity in Nigeria.
Speakers at the protest rally, listed as part of the group’s demands to include; good governance at all levels of governments; free, fair and credible elections in the country; adequate security; affordable and qualitative education; as well as the payment of entitlements to the late MKO Abiola’s family.
The organisers said the protest is against hardship, insecurity and justice for the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election in Nigeria, late Chief MKO Abiola.
