Security operatives have disrupted the June 12 protest in Abuja with tear gas as a large number of protesters scampered for safety while some journalists were detained.

The protesters who set out for their action along Gudu- Apo axis are demanding good governance, an end to the deepening security challenges across the country, and upholding of human rights existing laws.

One of the protesters, Deji Adeyanju said Nigerians can no longer tolerate the deepening security situations in the country and called on President Mohammadu Buhari to respect human rights laws especially the rights to protest across the country.

While dispersing the protesters with tear gas, some sustained injuries as two journalists covering the demonstration were picked and detained by the security operatives. One of them from Channels tv was later released but the Legit.com cameraman, Samuel Olubayo was taken to the Apo police Division for investigation despite a plea for his release by some journalists.

For now, the protesters who narrowly escaped security harassment have vowed to continue to push for their demands from the Buhari- led administration amid security harassment until the president heed to their unanimous call.
