He said the new date was fixed by the National Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee at its closed-door meeting at the party’s National Secretariat Monday evening. This is coming ahead of the meeting of the Governors elected on the platform of the party who are also scheduled to meet with President Buhari on Tuesday.
The new convention date reverses the earlier position of the party to conduct zonal congresses on March 26 which was contained in a letter addressed to the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu.
Under the new arrangement, the process leading to the National Convention on March 26 will commence from February 24 with Zonal Congresses across the country.
