The personality clash between some eminent members of the All Progressives Congress, APC and former Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike took a new dimension on Monday as the National Secretary of the ruling party, Ajibola Bashiru expressly asked the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory to resign from the Executive Council of the Federation.
Bashiru in a statement on Monday said Wike cannot be in the Executive Council of Federation of an APC Government and be “causing confusion” within any organ or structure of the party at any level, using the leverage of the same office.
The APC National Secretary reminded Wike that his support for President Bola Tinubu does not automatically make him a member of the ruling party adding that millions of non-APC Nigerians also support the President.
Bashiru and Wike have been exchanging tirades in the last few days with the FCT Minister insinuating that some APC members are scrambling for the N600 billion largesse in the coffers of Rivers State.
The APC National Secretary has threatened to go to court if the FCT Minister does not prove that he is interested in the N600 billion in Rivers State Treasury.
Bashiru also insisted that State Governors must be accorded due respect, a stand the Minister will not accept as his face off with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara deepens.
