Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been declared winner of the just concluded bye-election into Bakori state constituency in Katsina state.
The returning officer for the election, professor Aminu Dalha, while declaring the result, said the candidate of the APC, Dr. Ibrahim Aminu polled 20,446 votes while his closest rival Aminu Magaji of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, polled 11,356 votes. The Accord Party’s candidate, Abdullahi Sulaiman scored 729 votes.
Aminu defeated his closest rival Magaji of the Peoples Democratic Party with a margin of 9,090 votes.

A total of 16 registered political parties fielded candidates for the bye-election. A total of 124,024,261 registered voters were expected to exercise their franchise during the bye-election but there were reports of low voter turnout across the polling units.
The bye-election into the Bakori state constituency in Katsina state house of assembly followed the death of Ismaila Tsiga earlier this year.
