Army kills 4 Bandits arrests major drugs and logistics suppliers, in Katsina and Zamfara states.

The rate of attacks by bandits and other criminal elements is said to be decreasing in the Northwest region of the country, with the operation Sahel Sanity troops recording tremendous successes.

The Acting Director Defense media operations Brigadier General Bernard Onyeuko, who stated this in a statement obtained by AIT said that , the improved security is as a result of arrests of bandits informants and their logistic suppliers.

According to the Army statement, between 25th September and 3rd October, 2020, eight suspected bandits were arrested, with 4 neutralised during an artillery bombardment.

Several Others however escaped with various degrees of gunshots injuries while, 6 of their informants were also arrested including logistics and drugs suppliers.

Onyeuko added that, within the period under review, two bandit attacks were foiled both in Kurfi and Kaura Namoda areas of Katsina and Zamfara states, leading to the rescue of 6 abducted victims and recovery of over 200 rustled animals.

He added that the rescued victims, have since been reunited with their families, while the recovered animals have also been handed over to the rightful owners.

Onyeuko also said that during the period of clearance and engagements with the bandits, 3 Dane guns, 2 rounds of 7.62 millimeters of special live ammunitions, one motorcycle, large quantities of harmful substances including drugs and other dangerous weapons, were recovered from the bandits.

While urging the troops to maintain and sustain the tempo, to rid the region off bandits and other criminal activities, he called on the locals to keep availing the troops with truthful and actionable information to win the ongoing war.
