Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Governors and Ministers Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Rotimi Amaechi and Rauf Aregbesola, and other chieftains of the African Democratic Congress, ADC lead protest for the David Mark-led faction of the party to headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Maitama, Abuja.
The action which is tagged “Save Nigeria democracy” is targeted at the electoral umpire, which they say is working for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC to undermine democracy.
The protesters took off from the Maitama Roundabout, which is about 1,000 metres from the INEC headquarters, shortly after the birthday celebration of their National Chairman and former President of the Senate, David Mark.
It appears security personnel were taken unawares as few men were on ground compared to last week’s planned protest which was later cancelled.
The leaders of the protest and their supporters are waiting to submit a petition letter to INEC officials.
