His release was made known in a statement by the umbrella body of the Yoruba self-determination groups, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, on Monday.

The Communications Secretary to Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Maxwell Adeleye, explained that Igboho was released to Professor Banji Akintoye and the French language expert, Professor Wale Adeniran.

Sunday Igboho fled Nigeria after the deadly raid on his residence on July 2, 2021, by the Department of State Services, DSS, which left 2 persons dead and others detained.

He was later arrested in Benin Republic on his way to Germany on July 19, 2021.
