Over 160 students missing as bandits attack Bethel Baptist School in Kaduna State

KADUNA

Bandits in early hours of Monday abducted many students of Bethel Baptist School located in Maraban Rido, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, North-West Nigeria

A resident, who did not want his name mentioned, confirmed the incident to ait.live saying the bandits invaded the school at about 2am shooting sporadically into the air before abducting the students.

According to him, many students were abducted but 4 escaped and ran back to the school.

“Two soldiers were allegedly shot but I cannot confirm if they’re alive or not.

“It is difficult to say the number of students that were abducted,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kaduna State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Reverend John Joseph Hayap, says the school has a students population of 180 with over 20 of them accounted for after abduction incident. Some are believed to have escaped during the incident and would return to the school or their homes.

Meanwhile, another set of bandits have attacked Kasit community in Zongo Kataf Local Government Area of kaduna State. Kasit is a border town with Kafanchan, the headquarters of Jama’a Local Government Area of kaduna State.

ait.live gathered that the bandits invaded the village around 7pm on Sunday night shooting sporadically and injuring many who are now receiving treatment at Sir Patrick Yakowa Hospital Kafanchan. The number of casualties from both attacks are yet to be acertained.

Spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, Mohammed Jalige, had not responded to calls and text message for reaction to the incidents as at the time of filing this report.
